I was inspired at what I have read here and have found it very thought provoking. I am in my final semester of my Social Sciences degree at the Waikato University majoring in Social Policy and with a Minor in Human Development. I have just completed a Ministerial Briefing centered on how to amend the current DVA act 1995 in terms of approaches to dealing with "Male Perpetrators". I am currently working on a presentation to a small audience on Domestic Violence- Men`s Issue`s and are about to embark on a social policy Journal relating to the former topic.I am proposing that we look at including a Ministry of Men`s Affairs or at the very least assimilate with the Ministry of Women`s Affairs in order to tap into the frameworks, experience and intellect already at play. If the later is considered and or implemented then perhaps we may be able to obtain a more collaborated approach in working with men and boys, with the view to improving alarming statistics in existence found within the social, economic, cultural and health area`s.
